Dr. Gilllis’ introduction to learning technology began with her early work developing interactive learning strategies for North America’s major educational television networks: Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Sesame Street, the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), and TVOntario.
In the early 1980’s Lynette played a lead role in one of North America’s most ambitious public-sector courseware development initiatives—a $50 million computers-in-education initiative for the Province of Ontario. Lynette developed the quality assurance guidelines and supervised the instructional design and quality evaluations for more than 60 courseware programs ranging from accounting to molecular physics.
Field-testing this courseware provided Lynette with an unparalleled opportunity to observe first-hand (with literally thousands of learners) the appropriateness, usability, and effectiveness of hundreds of interactive designs. This extensive field experience yielded rich insights and laid the foundation for Lynette’s professional focus on quality evaluation and learning impact.
For two decades now, Lynette has been on the forefront of learning technology innovation consulting to many of North America’s leading organizations: Bell Canada, Excite@Home, CompTIA, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), the Toronto Stock Exchange, the Royal Bank of Canada, KPMG Peat Marwick and Thorne, Manulife, the Addiction Research Foundation, the Ontario Securities Commission, Industry Canada, University Health Network, University of Toronto, Canadian Customs and Revenue Agency, and many other blue chip clients.
This year, one of Lynette’s courseware designs received the 2003 ASTD Excellence in Practice Award. Last year, her courseware design received the 2002 Conference Board of Canada Award for eLearning Excellence.
