Allan is an eLearning specialist and a documentary filmmaker whose work has earned numerous international awards. His elearning focus is the effective use of media and instructional techniques to communicate complex ideas and promote learning.

Over the last decade, Allan has led efforts to help clients in business, government, and education develop interactive learning materials for CBT, CD ROM, and Internet delivery. He has been the instructional design lead or project manager on a more than a dozen interactive learning projects petrochemical engineering to banking sales training titles. Clients include: CIBC, Royal Bank, Manulife, ScotiaBank, Bank of Montreal, Bell Canada, BCE Corp., Nortel, Excite@Home, Industry Canada, the Toronto Stock Exchange, and the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC).

A graduate of the University of Toronto (Mechanical Engineering), he has played a central role in Learning Designs’ most significant elearning research and strategy engagements. Allan is a co-author of the report, Innovations In Course Delivery for a Distributed University and a contributor to Quality Standards for Evaluating Multimedia and Online Training.

As a documentary filmmaker, Allan has produced dozens of award-winning television documentaries for The Nature of Things with David Suzuki—the longest-running Canadian television documentary series. His documentary filmmaking took him throughout the world, from the Amazon rain forests to the Siberian Tundra. In an earlier stage of his career, he was Science Correspondent for MacLean’s magazine and edited Canadian Electronics Engineering, a professional engineering journal. Awards

Allan Bailey's television documentary work has received numerous international awards: American Film and Video Awards (Blue Ribbon); Tokyo International Film Festival (Gold Medal); New York International Film and Television Festival (Bronze Medal); Canadian Science Writers Award (Best Documentary Writing); Berlin International Film Festival (Environment Medal); Audubon International Environment Festival (Certificate of Excellence), International Wildlife Film Festival (Courage and Integrity Award). While Allan was senior writer/producer for The Nature of Things, the series earned the tile, Best Canadian Television Documentary Series, in five consecutive years.
